PATRICK NELSON in MILL VALLEY

PATRICK NELSON studied art and design at California Polytechnic State University and graphic design at The Academy of Art University. Nelson’s subsequent years of experience working in the worlds of branding and advertising inform his fine art practice.

Nelson constructs graphic, timeless images from hand-stained newspaper, juxtaposing modern designs with retro content. The lively graphics characteristic of vintage print-media balance the reductive abstraction of the subject matter. Recurring themes of history, retro nostalgia, and a magnetic attraction to water make up his extensive body of work.
