  • Jamie Servais

Oakland native Jamie Servais studied drawing, printmaking and painting at Hampshire College in Massachusetts, where he received a BA in Studio Art. Currently he serves as the lead artist in education for Southern Exposure Gallery’s Youth Artist Board program, and he works with special needs youth in East Oakland. Servais believes that drawing is an act of finding rather than creating – an artist is one who likes to look under stones. For him, drawing is a meditation, a ritual, a very logical system, a big joke.

  • Patrick Dunaway

Oakland-based artist Patrick Dunaway creates intricate, painstaking illustrations resonating with mystery and magic. Patrick’s drawings and paintings pull from geometry, allegorical imagery, and the natural world. An enduring fascination with skeletal structures can be noted throughout Patrick’s work- a nod to a childhood spent in Death Valley.

  • Matthew Craven

Matthew Craven is a Brooklyn-based artist who uses historical images as a backdrop for his collages and drawings. Craven synthesizes historical images from lost cultures, relics, archaeological remains as well as images from the cosmos, both well known and extremely ambiguous, to create the abstract patterns and narratives in his works. By doing so he reconfigures the original historical narrative and he creates his own myths that induce a new connection to our past.
