New York Now

Every August we travel to New York to show the Lauren Wolf Jewelry collection at the NY Now market. While Lindsay and Isabel steadfastly manned the booth, Lauren and I walked the show, placed orders with our old favorite artists, and discovered some great new talent. It’s always wonderful to catch up with old friends (who have new babies) and jewelry-industry colleagues, grab some proper bagels and schmear, and dine at iconic restaurants like the Odeon. In between studio visits with Satomi Kawakita and Anthony Lent we were even able to squeeze in a quick trip to the Manus X Machina exhibit at the Met. It was the perfect whirlwind NYC visit!

Layering Necklaces

When it’s too hot out to breathe (a.k.a. August in Los Angeles) heavy jewelry sounds about as unappealing as sweaterpants. Instead we like to layer up delicate gold and simple silver chains. Pair with a threadbare tee and cutoff Levis for the ultimate late summer chill-out look, or a wispy floral dress for cool girl vibes. Chevron Necklace by Kaylin Hertel 14k gold necklace with a ⅜” wide chevron pendant on a 15″ gold chain. Tiny Gold Heart Necklace by Luana Coonen 14k yellow gold anatomical heart charm on a gold chain. Gold Sunshine Charm Necklace by Scosha 14k yellow gold pendant necklace with white diamond on a gold chain. Triple Pendant Necklace by Melissa Joy... Read More

Last week we installed some fresh new drawings from Oakland-based artist Patrick Dunaway in the L.A. shop gallery. Patrick’s allegorical illustrations deal with themes of death, mystery and magic, most often as related to the harsh desert landscape. I was fortunate enough to sit down with Patrick and chat about this new body of work. Alexis: Your work contains heavily symbolic imagery, often of totems associated with the desert. I know you’ve spent a good deal of time as both a child and adult in Death Valley- what does the desert mean to you? Patrick: The desert is of huge significance in my life.  I grew up traveling though the West with my family and we have spent many Thanksgiving... Read More

Michael & Chelsea

August 8, 2016
by Kayla Andrews
ESQUELETO owner Lauren Wolf recently worked with Michael on his custom project. Throughout the process I heard the team singing his praises. They said he was a really nice person and fun to work with. I thought I’d reach out and see what he thought of the custom process and if he’d recommend it to others. Here’s what he said: Kayla: You worked with Lauren Wolf to create a custom ring for your partner, Chelsea. What was the ring for? What made you decide to do a custom ring? Michael: I worked with Lauren to make Chelsea’s engagement ring. I had searched extensively, both at shops in New York and online and actually found a ring that I really liked, but when it arrived...
