Dirty Diamonds

“It’s hard to be a diamond in a rhinestone world.” ― Dolly Parton   Ah, the diamond. For our last post in April, I thought I’d take a moment to ruminate one of my most favorite gems (and the birthstone for all you April birthday babies). While I can appreciate the sparkling allure of a bright, twinkling white stone, what really spikes my heart rate is the romance of a gray diamond that is naturally flawed, its inclusions elevating it into truly one of a kind territory. Even the descriptions of these stones make me swoon: salt and pepper, champagne, cognac, whiskey, smoke. Heavily speckled, cloudy, moody, and complex, these are the stones that leave me breathless, the... Read More

We are thrilled to welcome one of our favorite artists, Satomi Kawakita, to the Los Angeles shop for a trunk show this weekend! Satomi will be here in person with her incredible full collection of engagement rings, wedding bands, delicate earrings and necklaces, and unique stacking rings.   To celebrate Satomi’s first trunk show in Southern California, we’ve partnered with local fashion and lifestyle blogger Courtney Halverson of Pretty Little Fawn to give away a very special diamond ring by Satomi. Men’s Rings

This week it is all about the boys here at ESQUELETO! Many of our artists create jewelry with a strong masculine side, and we carry an extensive collection of men’s wedding bands to suit a variety of tastes. Profiled here are some of our go-to favs for uniquely designed men’s rings. SHAWN ROBERTS Crafted from Damascus steel, an ancient metalworking technique favored by sword and knife makers, and lined with precious metals like gold, platinum and silver, Shawn’s rings marry strength with a refined sophistication. JOHNNY NINOS Johnny’s designs are inspired by the coastal waters and tidepools near his Olivos, California studio. Organic in design and cast in luxe 18k... Read More

Jeanette & Mikey

Jeanette’s energy left a really good impression on our Oakland store manager, Danica, and ESQUELETO founder Lauren Wolf over the past few weeks as she chose her engagement ring. She ended up with such a beautiful piece by Rebecca Overmann which seemed to suit her perfectly. The whole experience was really sweet so I asked her to share a little bit of her story in our blog: Kayla: How did you meet Mikey, your fiancé?   Jeanette: I actually met my fiancé online – BUT we actually went to the same high school and have a ton of mutual friends. It’s pretty weird – we know – but we are both so much cooler now than we were in high school! Our first blind date was... Read More

In the Gallery

We host bi-monthly art shows at both our LA and Oakland shops, and it’s always exciting to see how each artist’s work can transform the space. This First Friday, we unveiled “Fresh paintings” by Jen Garrido. It’s an ode to color and light that has transported us straight into Spring. Working in watercolor on mostly large-scale paper, Jen paints in uninhibited strokes. The effect is something like a Rorschach test, where the associations are only every good. Don’t miss these breathtaking works – they’ll be on view and available to reserve through June 1st.
